Definition:- Policies guidelines, principles, rules and regulations established by an organization to guide decision making actions and behaviour. The word policy is taken from the Greek word Politeia, the bird Politeia means clear and published polity. Policies are put to provide framework for consistence and effective decision making so that organization goal could be promote. Policies can be applied to wide range of area such as safety, Finance, HR, IT and environmental protection. Policies can be written or unwritten formal or informal. Policies can be applied in various areas of organization.

Types of policies
1.Organization policies :- organization policies are related to the whole organization that help to accomplish object or goal of the organization.
2.Supportive policies :- supportive policies as name supports organizational policies for proper implementation of organizational policies in different different department.
3.Departmental policies :- departmental policies are related to the department of the organization which are concerned with day to day operation of a particular department.
Ex. If company want to achieve any particular number of sales then the policy which is made by the policy maker in the organization will work for sales department.
4.Composite policies:- To achieve objective of the organization. organizational members may follow number of policies to make decision effectively in that area, all these policies taken together are called composite policies.
