Selection process - Selection process is a basic process where applicant have to examined by the interviewer. It consists number of stages or number of series of steps. Each step must be cleared by the applicant before proceed to next. In the selection process applicant have to face some physical and mental hurdled to get select the particular vacancy, All the hurdles and barriers must be cross. This process is also called SUCCESSIVE HURDLES TECHNIQUE. Because these hurdles and barriers  are designed to eliminate the candidate. In practice, the selection process differ among the organization and between two different job in the same organization. The process of selection difficult and long when it is taken by the senior lever interviewer but it is simple and sort when it is taken by the lower level officer or interviewer. Over all the selection process is a process where applicant or candidate have to show that he is fit for the particular work. He can complete the work with dedication and determination. following are the steps which is apply in selection process. 


  1. Reception :- Reception is the first and foremost important steps in the selection process, where collecting and scrutiny is to be done. A receptionist collect the resume and inform about new openings to the visitors. Scrutiny process is essential to separate those application form which are not fulfill the requirement of particular job and vacancy.    
  2. Preliminary Interview :- In this stage of selection candidates are given the necessary information about the company, nature of job. And obtain necessary information form the candidate about their education qualification, skill experience etc. 
  3. Blank Application Form :- In this process Person information is to be taken by the prospective candidate in its own hand writing, the information is related given bellow.                                                                                                                           (I) Bio data  (ii) Educational Qualification (iii) Work Experience  (iv) Curricula Activities (v) References  (vi) Salary Demanded 
  4. Selection Tests :- Selection test based on the assumption that individual differ in their job related traits which can be measured. There is different type of selection test according to the company, job and organization. Selection process provides a systematic basis for comparing candidates behaviour attitudes and performance of two ore more person. 
  5. Selection Interview :- Selection interview is the oral process in which conversation is conducted between the candidate and interviewer. It is a formal in depth conversation which evaluates the candidate's acceptability. 
  6. Checking references :- the references may provide more information about the candidate, If they happened to be his former employers or with whom he might have been working earlier. the applicants are normally asked to name two or three persons who know about his experience, skill, ability, etc. but should not be related  to him. Checking references does not provide more information about the candidate. 
  7. Final Selection :- It is a step where candidate is sent to the line officer because, candidate have to work under the line or senior officer. In this process officer assess the candidate according to his work efficiency and productivity. If candidate is not fit for the particular work then he is to appointed as apprentice for some time. 
  8. Physical Examination  :- In this stage candidate is to examine physically. Following information is found by the physical test. 1. Whether candidate is psychologically fit for the job. 2. Whether the candidate is physically fit. 3. Whether candidate suffer from bad health issues which can be  corrected before the job satisfactorily. 5. Whether the physical measurement are in accordance with the job requirements or not?
  9. Contract of Employment :- Before starting the job and after the job offer, it is important to accept the job offer by the candidate. there are some of information have to share with applicant by the employer.  (1) Job title (2) details of duties date when the continuous employment starts Remuneration and method of payments  Work rules , Disciplinary procedure, Terms for union membership, Terms of Termination of employment, Sickness leave rules Hours of work including lunch break, Overtime and shift arrangements. etc. 
  10. Evaluation :- Evaluation is the last process of selection, in which it is decided that the candidate should be committed.
